The Quilt will be holding its annual Winter Member Meeting virtually in 2021. And though we are not able to make it to our favorite winter destination – the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club and La Jolla Shores Hotel – we are preparing a La Jolla-themed Quilt community gathering in which to learn and share with one another and collectively advance networking for research and education.

2021 Featured Session: Regional Networks Data and Disasters Tabletop
This year, The Quilt is offering a special interactive session. R&E networks are critical infrastructure to member institutions. Business continuity plans are vital to ensure network availability for our network users. Are you prepared? Through this gamified experience, explore DR scenarios like never before by playing the role of a fictitious regional network faced with dangerous cyber incidents. By working together through the scenarios, you will acquire knowledge needed to implement or enhance your own successful disaster recovery plan. Disaster recovery plans cross multiple areas of organizational operations such as executive leadership, network engineering, security, communications, member relations and others. All roles are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. Kevin Hayes, chief information and security officer for Quilt member Merit, will lead this session as our scenario master. There are limited spots for our tabletop adventurers and we will want to select our REN team members to include different roles and skills to ensure our scenario success. It’s on! The new normal means the new fun continues and The Quilt is happy to announce that part two of The Quilt Games will be opening, once again, one week prior to the start of the Winter Member Meeting.
