VMware and Related Services Convenience Pricing Program

On January 4, 2019, The Quilt issued an RFP for a VMware and Related Services Distribution Partner. The goal of this RFP effort was to identify a distribution partner that recognizes and appreciates the wealth of opportunities that exist through a constructive partnership with The Quilt and the research and education networking community.  The Quilt selected Carahsoft as that distribution partner that will provide world-class customer support and partner in the delivery of VMware and related offerings for Quilt members and their member institutions throughout the country.
The five competitively bid related services are: HPE, Palo Alto Networks, Dell Technologies, AWS and Veeam and have been included in the new master service agreement.

Program History

The Quilt has a successful history of leveraging the collective purchasing power of its membership and authorized member institutions to purchase advanced networking technology and services at a lower cost.  VMware is a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility. In an effort to leverage its buying power for improved pricing for VMware, our Quilt community issued its first Request for Proposals (RFP) in August of 2015 to select a distribution partner for a Quilt community consortium-based pricing program. The second RFP was issued on January  4th of 2019.
