Esports Resources

Electronic sports, or esports, are organized competitions using multiplayer videogames where professional players and their respective teams contend for a prize. Recently, esports have moved from the professional to the non-professional realm. This has inspired the formation of programs for non-professional players, especially varsity programs at the collegiate and high school levels. Since esports has grown in popularity, these programs are rapidly expanding. The information below contains resource documents and other samples from organizations, including members of The Quilt who are at the front of this expansion, helping others to understand and connect with this opportunity.

National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE)

NACE is a member driven organization that focuses on the positive development of esports programs at the collegiate level, and advocates for members to create varsity programs that include scholarships for its participants and a strong institutional commitment to the sport. NACE is the only association of college and university sponsored esports programs that promotes the education and development of students through intercollegiate esports.

As of June 2019, over 94% of all varsity esports programs in the U.S. are members of NACE with an ever increasing number of schools exploring esports. Refer to NACE Member Institutions by REN spreadsheet below to see which institutions in your state are NACE members.
