The Quilt’s statement on FCC vs. Consumers’ Research ruling

U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision upholds federal program that provides schools, libraries, underserved areas with access to affordable telephone, high-speed internet

Jen Leasure, president and CEO of The Quilt – a consortium of regional Research and Education (R&E) networks in the United States – today issued the following statement in response to the opinion issued by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Federal Communications Commission v. Consumers’ Research

“The court’s ruling today prevented significant disruption to technology projects nationwide, especially for schools and libraries that rely heavily on USF’s E-Rate funding. Many Quilt members actively support their community anchor institutions by participating in the E-Rate and Rural Healthcare programs. The Quilt is pleased that we will continue to see consistent and uninterrupted funding to support these important programs.”
