One of the goals of The Quilt is to provide advanced network
services at a lower cost. Toward this goal, the coalition of Quilt members and
authorized Quilt Buyers purchase Commodity Internet Services (CIS) through
several approved CIS vendors who participate in the program.
In striving to serve The Quilt's member and community needs,
through this project, The Quilt offers workshops on key operational topics of
interest to members of the research and education community.
The goal of the Quilt Peering Project is to educate The Quilt
membership about all facets of peering including the fundamentals of peering,
various types of peering, implementation, routing strategies, financial models,
etc..., and to function as a clearinghouse for information about current peering
initiatives.
The Quilt supports Quilt members and authorized buyers by
developing business agreements with vendors who have a comprehensive network
delivery infrastructure and are able partner with The Quilt in the delivery and
development of our research and education networks throughout the United
States. These types of agreements are divided into two categories; Selected
Vendor Partners, those who have been awarded through the Quilt's RFP process,
and Vendor Affiliates Program, for vendors were not selected through an RFP
process but provide products or services of interest to a majority if the Quilt community.
