Quilt Video Collaboration Working Group

The Quilt Video Collaboration Working Group aims to help Quilt members better understand and leverage telepresence technologies, including ultra-high-definition video and other open, virtual presence capabilities. Working Group participants exchange information and experiences with the procurement and deployment of telepresence and other video systems on regional research and education (R&E) networks, enabling them to make more informed choices with respect to telepresence service options.


  • Identifying common standards and best practices to integrate telepresence and video technology into regional and campus networks
  • Collaborating with Internet2 and other educational entities to test and operationalize an open virtual presence capability across the R&E space
  • Encouraging R&E telepresence and video users to register their units on a public telepresence directory, making it easier for R&E, corporate and government telepresence users to find each other and collaborate
  • Collecting and reporting on telepresence-related data from The Quilt membership and other educational and corporate resources
