The Quilt's Fall 2007

Network Operations Center Workshop and

Member Meeting

Austin, Texas

October 3-5, 2007

Hosted by the Lone Star Education and Research Network (LEARN), The Quilt's Fall 2007 Member Meeting and Network Operations Center (NOC) Workshop are being held in Austin at the University of Texas J.J. Pickle Research Center Campus October 3-5, 2007. The Pickle Research Center is home to the Texas Advanced Computing Center

We plan to start off the week's events with the NOC Workshop starting the morning of October 3rd and running until mid-day on October 4th.  After lunch on October 4th, we will kick-off of our member meeting at approximately 2:00 p.m.  Our member meeting is scheduled to conclude in the early afternoon of Friday, October 5th.

This Network Operations Center Workshop is a new topic in the series of Quilt workshops.  The program for the workshop was designed by a group of veteran R&E NOC managers from across the country and focuses on topics that are relevant to the day-to-day operations of a NOC and its staff.  The target audience for this workshop is R&E networking business managers, NOC managers and NOC staff.

The workshop program is designed to be very interactive with a high level of audience participation.  Workshop participants will also be asked to complete two short surveys prior to the workshop regarding their organization's NOC practices.  Please see the workshop agenda for additional details on the program.

Since a trip to Austin would not be complete without a sampling of Austin BBQ and music, workshop participants are invited to join us for dinner at Stubb's BBQ on Wednesday evening, October 3rd.

We are also planning our Member Dinner for Thursday, October 4th from 6:30-8:30 pm at Threadgill's Restaurant

Approximate Workshop Start Time:  Wednesday, October 3rd at 8:30 a.m.

Approximate Workshop End Time:  Thursday, October 4th at noon

Approximate Member Meeting Start Time:  Thursday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m.
