The Quilt, in conjunction with MCNC, will be hosting the second Fiber Workshop November 30 - December 2, 2004 in Research Triangle Park, NC. This workshop will focus on issues associated building and managing metro or regional optical networking infrastructure. A true example topology will be used as a case study, including presentations by vendors on how their equipment would be deployed over this topology. The workshop assumes a basic understanding of optical networking terminology and technology, specifically those topics discussed during the June Fiber Workshop. Specific topics covered will include:

Once you turn in the driveway, the workshop is in the first building on the left, in the main auditorium. The workshop registration desk will be inside the front door. Parking is available in the lot in front of the building.

To the MCNC campus from the conference hotel:

Exit the hotel parking lot from the back driveway and turn right on Miami Blvd. Follow Miami Blvd. across I-40 and go approximately 1 mile to Cornwallis Road. Turn left on Cornwallis. MCNC is on the right. Hint: If you get to Alexander Drive you have gone too far.

Pre-registration will close at 5:00pm eastern time on Wednesday November 24, 2004. On-site registration will be available at the registration desk in the lobby of the MCNC Building. The registration desk will open at 10:00am on Tuesday November 30, 2004.

The registration fee for this Workshop is $100.

There will be a reception, sponsored by The Quilt and MCNC, Wednesday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Holidy Inn.
