The positions track directly to the mission of providing advanced networking services to North Carolina’s K-20 community.

The position includes a rotating on-call requirement. Travel to NCREN sites and institutions are required. This position, at times, may require working outside of normal business hours.

CA Voice-over IP (VoIP) Engineer

Reporting to the VoIP Manager as part of the VoIP team, the VoIP Engineer provides design, deployment and operational support for CENIC's VoIP services, which uses infrastructure owned and managed by CENIC. The VoIP Engineer serves as a technical expert on the VoIP team and supports external customers, as well as internal staff. In addition, the VoIP Engineer may be called upon to represent CENIC in technical forums, such as meetings, panel presentations, and conferences.

The Network Architect is responsible for the design, architecture, and oversight of a holistic and consistent voice and data network in a campus environment (~8000 active Ethernet ports) including: switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, and VoIP systems. Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the transport network. Consult with end-users, clients, peers, and/or management to define business requirements for complex systems and network infrastructure development. Develop, document, and communicate plans for deployment solutions, including: analysis of cost reduction and technical advancement opportunities. Provide third-tier support to integrated network/voice operational support team.
